Biography
Tin Dipper formed in 2010 to perform songs, melodies, and poems from old and recent Ireland and Scotland. Their performances on harp, fiddle, concertina, mandolin, and guitar bring these traditions to life and open a view on our Celtic heritage.
Mary Lester sings and plays a variety of harps, including Celtic lap and floor harps. She has released numerous albums and, in addition to her work with Tin Dipper, has played solo concerts and presented historically themed workshops for Irish and Scottish festivals, and for museums and libraries.
Josh Gregg has played fiddle since childhood. After starting on classical violin, he switched to Scottish and Irish music when he joined Celtic Tradition, a band he played with for ten years. Originally from Pennsylvania, he moved to Rochester, New York, in 2006 and began playing Irish music with the local session crowd. In addition to Tin Dipper, Josh has also played with Gan Ainm, another Rochester-based traditional Irish band. He can also be heard on the latest CD release from the Tragedy Brothers.
Jon Griffin is a guitarist who has focused on traditional Irish music for nearly twenty years. He is also a long-time reader and presenter of Irish literature.
